Everything you wanted to know...
But were afraid to ask.
Question:
How can continual undercharging harm a battery?
Answer:
In many respects, undercharging is as harmful as overcharging. Keeping a battery in an
undercharged condition allows the positive grids to corrode and the plates to shed. This
dramatically shortens life. Also, an undercharged battery must work harder than if fully charged.
This contributes to short life as well.
